Last week, our dedicated team from Western Australia, which included Karratha Shotokan Karate Head Instructor Carl Wangemann Sensei, made the journey to Queensland to train with the JKA National Squad and compete in the Mackay Central Highlands Tournament, hosted by Mackay Karate Centre. This event was not just about competition, but also about community, learning, and the spirit of karate.
We are very proud to announce that our very own Carl Wangemann Sensei took home the silver medal for Kumite, an amazing feat and a true demonstration of excellence and discipline.
Training with the JKA National Squad
Our Head Instructor had the exciting opportunity to train rigorously with the JKA National Squad, honing their skills and learning from the best, all in preparation for the highly anticipated Funakoshi Gichin Cup in Tokyo in October. The training sessions were intense and informative, providing valuable insights and techniques that Carl Sensei can bring back and impart at our training sessions in Karratha and Wickham.
